Transitioning to a new home can be challenging, especially for veterans seeking both physical and mental support. Without a strong sense of community, the journey can feel isolating. That's why Alaska Warrior Partnership (AKWP) is committed to ensuring veterans are connected to vital resources and meaningful experiences that foster healing and camaraderie.

Ever wondered what $10 could do? It can save the lives of veterans like the one you're reading about in this story. Donate $10 a month and help us reach veterans before a crisis occurs. Together, we can do better. Our veterans deserve better.

When Coast Guard veteran (' 03-'23) Adam Barker* relocated to the MatSu region, he contacted AKWP for support. Understanding his love for the outdoors and animals, AKWP connected him with Battle Dawgs, an organization dedicated to helping veterans heal through outdoor rehabilitation.

"I am super thankful for the experience; I really liked it and all Battle Dawgs was able to help me with." - Adam Barker, Coast Guard Veteran

Through their Arctic Renewal program, Adam experienced a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity: spending a day at a remote camp dog mushing alongside Alaskan Huskies. More than just an adventure, this program fosters connection, joy, and renewal, helping veterans build a supportive network while embracing the beauty of Alaska.

Battle Dawgs provided precisely what Adam needed. He returned with a renewed mindset, a sense of belonging, and a community that will continue to support him on his journey.
