When Terry decided to seek help with his struggle with alcoholism, he made one of the most difficult and courageous choices in his life: he checked himself into the VA Domiciliary, determined to get sober and begin therapy. As his treatment progressed, another challenge emerged: what to do with the belongings he’d left behind in his apartment.

Ever wondered what $10 could do? It can save the lives of veterans like the one you're reading about in this story. Donate $10 a month and help us reach veterans before a crisis occurs. Together, we can do better. Our veterans deserve better.

Without a vehicle or nearby family to help, Kathryn Fulmer, the Chief of the VA Domiciliary, stepped in. Knowing the power of community, she connected Terry with Alaska Warrior Partnership. They quickly reached out to Operation Iron Warrior, whose President, Jeremiah Brewington, didn’t hesitate to lend a hand. Jeremiah and another volunteer arrived at Terry’s apartment. Together, they packed and moved the boxes of books, clothes, and personal treasures that marked the chapters of Terry’s life.

Thanks to the coordinated efforts of the VA Domiciliary, Alaska Warrior Partnership, and Operation Iron Warrior, Terry was able to focus fully on his recovery without the weight of unfinished tasks holding him back. His story is a powerful example of how collaboration and compassion can make a lasting difference in the life of a veteran working toward recovery and renewal.
