Terry is a 70-year-old Vietnam veteran who served in the Navy. Terry previously contacted AKWP to have his few personal items moved into storage when he checked himself into the VA Domiciliary, determined to get sober and begin therapy.

Ever wondered what $10 could do? It can save the lives of veterans like the one you're reading about in this story. Donate $10 a month and help us reach veterans before a crisis occurs. Together, we can do better. Our veterans deserve better.
Now that his stay at the Dom has concluded and he is all settled into a senior living facility to continue his sobriety and recovery, Terry needed to retrieve the rest of his belongings from the storage facility and transport them to his new apartment. This was to not only to make the space his, but also to eliminate an additional expense on his set income.
Once again, a group of volunteers in Terry’s community rally behind him in his journey to self-sufficiency, thanks to James with Alaska Healing Hearts. James had reached out to volunteers and they scheduled a time to meet to move Terry’s belongings from storage and into his apartment. Their support turned an empty apartment into a fresh start, proving that recovery is never a journey taken alone.
